Transport for London Framework

We secured a place on Lot 1 and Lot 2 (Minor and Major Works) within the Transport for London (TfL) Framework, a 5+2 year contract supporting hazardous material removal, including asbestos, alongside demolition and enabling works within live rail environments.

Works delivered under the TfL Framework take place within stations, trackside locations and supporting rail assets where access is constrained and rail infrastructure remains operational. Many of these environments contain legacy asbestos within structural elements, services and finishes, requiring controlled removal methods alongside demolition and enabling activities.

Under the framework, Erith has undertaken the removal and disposal of asbestos contaminated materials from rail assets, combined with the controlled demolition of affected structures within live rail settings. Works are carried out during possessions, line blocks and restricted access periods, with activities planned to suit the physical constraints of the railway environment.

Temporary Works and Engineering in Live Rail Settings

Temporary works form a critical part of delivery across TfL sites. Erith installs temporary works systems to provide safe access, support retained structures and protect live rail assets throughout asbestos removal and demolition activities. These measures allow work to proceed alongside operational interfaces while maintaining safe conditions within stations and trackside locations.

Where rail interfaces are complex, engineering solutions are introduced to manage access, protection and coordination with existing infrastructure. During hazardous works, containment systems and dust suppression measures are installed and maintained throughout, controlling the spread of fibres and dust and ensuring compliance with rail and environmental requirements.

Mock Rail and Track Training Facility

to prepare operatives for the demands of live rail environments, Erith constructed a mock rail and track training facility at Ebbsfleet. This facility allows the team to practise rail-specific tasks, access arrangements and control measures in a realistic setting before attending live sites. Training focuses on working adjacent to rail infrastructure, using temporary access solutions and operating within confined and controlled environments.
