Erith secured the contract to undertake the substructure and superstructure works packages at the former Burston Garden Centre site in St Albans on behalf of the client, Elysian Properties. The development includes the construction of 80 assisted living apartment and 44 cottages across the 3.86 hectare site.
Our scope of works included cut and fill excavation works, pile mat installation, piling works, drainage, utilities infrastructure and RC substructure and superstructure works.

The project included the design and installation of a piling mat and 961 bearing piles, each with a diameter of 300mm. The scope of works also included the installation of under slab insulation, and construction of the ground floor slabs for the three assisted living blocks and cottages. Additionally, foul and storm water drainage systems were installed, and the services design was completed from stage 4 to construction issue. The management, coordination, and installation of the main project services were also part of the scope, along with the installation and fit-out of a sub-station, a grease separator, and headwalls. Over 17,000 cubic metres of soil were removed from the site under Duty of Care protocols.
